FAQ
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
-
How to get started
Send us your request trough our contact Page. We will contact you via email so you can share us your plans and we will provide you with an estimate and time frame for your needs.
-
Methods of payment
We take all major credit cards as form of payment.
-
What is a Takeoff?
A Takeoff is a detailed calculation of earthwork volumes needed to bring a project from an existing to a proposed condition. An estimator makes use of advanced software to calculate cut and fill volumes needed to achieve the final grades of a site.
-
What is a 3D Machine Control Model?
A Machine control model is a digital model of the proposed surface for a project that can be read by GPS Controlled equipment. It is created from the grading plan using site coordinates and elevations so the machine knows its exact position relative to the finished grade. This model is uploaded into the equipment so it can be used to grade in a very fast and precise manner with minimum input from the operator.
-
Which 3D Machine Control formats do you support?
We currently support Topcon Equipment Only. We are working on expanding our services to other Brands
-
What materials does a takeoff include?
Typical Material quantities and volumes we provide include:
-
Clearing & Site Preparation
-
Erosion Control
-
Asphalt and concrete sawing and demolition
-
Asphalt and concrete paving
-
Building Select Fill
-
General cut and fill
-
Scarifying and soil improvement
-
Curbs & Sidewalks
-
Sanitary and Storm sewer
-
Trenches for utilities
-
Fine grading
-
Material Haul in/Haul off
-
Topsoil
-
Fences and gates
-
Do you provide sample takeoff/estimate to new clients?
Please see our Sample Reports
-
What is your turnaround time?
Times will vary according to each project, but typical response for a takeoff is 3 working days for a takeoff and 4 days for a machine control model.
-
In which file format will I receive the information?
We can provide either pdf or excel formats, so you they can be customized or modified accordingly. 3D Machine Control models are provided in .TP3 Format (Topcon).
-
Do you provide updates, scope add-ons ?
We do provide updates and add-ons for a small fee. usually updates have quick response time.
-
What documents are needed to be sent in order to start a takeoff?
For Takeoffs we require at least grading plans showing existing/proposed contour lines. It is necessary to have a scale bar or referenced dimensions. If buildings and pavements are present, we require the finished floor elevations, as well as the Geotechnical Report, and civil details where it shows subgrade sections.
-
What documents are needed to be sent for a 3D machine control model?
In order to generate a 3D machine Control Model the following is Required:
-
Unit definition (US Survey feet, International feet or Meters)
-
Civil Set with grading plan and civil details. usually a .pdf. if Autocad available this would be a better option, decreasing processing time and improving precision.
-
Ground control Coordinates in a .txt or .csv file with PNEZ format (point name, Northing, Easting and Elevation). This is not necessary for the model, but it will be necessary to reference the model in the field. this is usually provided by a surveyor.
-
If roads are present, alignment for the center line with stationing would be needed.
